honestly im tired of hearing about the horribleness of the flood.. you really need to start to focus on more of the positives and where help is avaiable for those who didnt get the help, or dont know where to get the help.

there are plenty of people out there.. buisness’s.. that are willing to tell you their story.. walk around n listen. many people are torked off at our city… others dont know what to do, others are getting ahead.

sometimes the best stories are those people you just bump into and listen to.

Honestly, stubby, I am sick of hearing about the flood too. I would rather hear about the people affected by the flood. The people still struggling since the flood.

There are plenty of residents who were not helped willing to talk, but no one wants to hear that part of the story now do they. I am SICK of hearing about the businesses! They will be fine-as we have all seen.

Just my opinion. People have every right to be angry with the city and the city should acknowledge them and treat them like people instead of trash. If this were handled properly things would be great-even better than before. Instead of pretending we are all okay it’s time everyone knows the truth-we aren’t all okay.

In response to Bev’s last two sentences: you’re correct, “we aren’t all okay”. The city has treated everybody like trash, the people who are supposed to help ‘those affected’ are even treating people like trash, contradictions, social status, etc. It’s all wrapped into one big mess. When a friend and I happened to point that out on another post, that post was taken off. Apparently, nobody is ready to face reality. For as much as people are talking about making a stand- really coming down on the city- does anyone REALLY have the guts to do it? Where do I start?

I don’t know to actually put this so I’ll put it here since it deals with the newspeople.
Has anybody THANKED them? I thank the news people, from all of the people behind the scenes to those out in the field (or in boats) and those behind the desk (or when changing generators, outside!). I remember watching the news for three days and to see how they toiled, in the worst “newsroom” conditions! To see them battling emotions, trying to be strong during broadcasts- just amazing! Remember to THANK those who brought news, good or bad, those who tried to keep up with the rushing disaster! THANK YOU!

Follow the money: The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation’s Flood Fund - $5.4 million donated, so far $3.26 million distributed to 48 nonprofits. http://www.gcrcf.org
